On September 16th, GWUAH and the GW Interfaith Center hosted accomplished filmmaker Wendy Sachs to speak about and learn from her documentary, October 8. We shared an evening of respectful dialogue among a group of faculty and staff as Wendy told us about her filmmaking process and how the documentary took shape. As the forms of antisemitism in the United States change, it is vital to learn about and fight against its effects at events like these. While we had some disagreements, we were able to share our perspectives and reach an understanding with one another, and we hope that this event will serve as a model as discussions around antisemitism, freedom of speech, and academic spaces become more urgent.
